"The last few weeks have really put things in perspective. We’ve lost some great talents, and dear friends - I’ve been trying, unsuccessfully, to make sense of all… I’ve always been able to express myself best through music, so again I’ll let it speak for me.
I wrote this song for my mentor Ray Cham. He was a gifted producer, great friend, and proud father. It was because of him that I was involved in High School Musical, and I’ll never forget his generosity. Tragically, he passed away far too young, a few years ago.
Although this song is very personal and specific, I wanted to put it out there in the world for anyone and everyone who’s lost someone important. Life is a beautiful gift. It is short and precious and I intend to live every day to the fullest, just as Ray did.
RIP Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, Billy Mays, Mark Paffrath, and Ray Cham. You all live on through those you’ve loved and those you’ve inspired. Special thanks to Nate Bosley, my co-writer/producer, and Jason Pennock for recording/mixing this tribute.
